“More than 1000 [Palestinian] mutakif [1] participated in the renovation and restoration of the Bab A-Rahma [2] area, east of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the 27th night of Ramadan. Activists release the hashtags Bab_Arahma_is_ours, and My_Itikaf_is_at_Bab_Arahma.

0202 Editor’s Notes:
[1] A mutakif is a person doing itikaf, which is an Islamic practice consisting of staying in a mosque for a certain number of days and devoting oneself to worship during that time.
[2] Bab A-Rahma, or the Golden Gate, is one of the sealed entrances to Al-Aqsa Mosque. In recent years the Muslim cemetery at Bab A-Rahma has become a flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because of attempts to confiscate parts of the cemetery for a national park trail.
