Thousands celebrated with the ‘Belz’ Hasidic community: Central ‘Sheva Brachot’ [1].
The joyous celebration of the ‘Sheva Brachot’ took place last night in the huge tent in Kiryat Belz [2], Jerusalem, on the occasion of the marriage of the grandson of the Belz Chief Rabbi. The greatest Rabbis, led by the Rabbi of Gur [3], came to the celebration, as well as many candidates [4] and politicians. There was also a joint dance of the Belz Rebbe with the President of the Council of Torah Sages, Chacham [5] Shalom Cohen.

0202 Editor’s Notes:
[1] Sheva Brachot (lit. seven blessings) are the customary celebrations held for newly-weds during the seven days following the wedding. The term comes from the seven blessings which are recited during the wedding itself and in the following celebrations. In most cases these celebrations are small and modest but for children of prominent figures they become a public event.
[2] Kiryat Belz is a neighbourhood in Jerusalem and the center of the Belz Hasidic community. The Belz Hasidic dynasty is one of the largest Hasidic communities in Israel and has sizable communities in the UK, Belgium, New York, New Jersey and Canada.
[3] The Gur Hasidic community is the largest in Israel today as well as having well-established communities in New York, London and other central cities worldwide.
[4] Candidates for the upcoming municipal elections which will take place on October 30th.
[5] Chacham (lit. scholar) is a honorary title in Sephardic communities equivalent to “Rabbi”.
