“Watch: Purim around the world – even in snow.

All over the world, Purim [1] is celebrated in various costumes, customs and dances. This is how Purim was celebrated in Chicago, Lakewood and Manchester.”

0202 Editors’ Notes:
[1] Purim is a Jewish holiday celebrating the Jewish people being saved from annihilation by the Achaemenid Persian Empire. The story is recorded in the biblical Book of Esther. Among the customs and rituals of the day are: reading the Book of Esther, donating to the poor, sharing in festive meals with wine, dressing up in costumes, and more. In Jerusalem (and a few other locations) Purim is celebrated a day after the rest of the world.
